Good but not for large data sets

Likeliness to Recommend

5 /10

What differentiates CrashPlan from other similar products?

CrashPlan stands is good on protecting personal devices like laptops and desktops, offering flexible backups over any internet connection. It's user-friendly and offers seamless encryption for secure storage. However, it’s more suitable for smaller data sets and personal use, not ideal for large servers or complex environments.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Crashplab is very easy to set up and use.. The automatic backups give me peace of mind, knowing my files are secure without having to constantly manage the process. Plus, it works well with multiple devices, making it a great solution for personal and small business use.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Crashplan can be slow when dealing with large amounts of data or many files, especially during the initial backup. Additionally, the need to manually tag specific folders for backup can be time-consuming. Another drawback is that you can’t recover files from a damaged or reformatted drive without an existing backup, which could be frustrating in certain situations. The fact that CrashPlan dropped its consumer clients also left some users disappointed.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

it's a good option for backing up your personal files, especially if you're using a laptop or desktop. Just keep in mind, it may not be the best if you have tons of data or a lot of files, as it can slow down. Also, the initial backup might take a while, so be patient. Make sure you're tagging the folders you want to back up regularly. And if you're using the consumer version, double-check that it still fits your needs since CrashPlan has moved away from consumer clients.

Pros

  • Effective Service
  • Client Friendly Policies
  • Fair
  • Client's Interest First

Easy to implement but frustrating for Mac's

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates CrashPlan from other similar products?

Centralised control and reporting

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Ease of silent restore to device or web restore for quick items such as a single PDF from someones downloads for example

What do you dislike most about this product?

Crashplan was called Code42 and did a rename and this did break and disrupt a bunch of agents. If the agent fails an update it leaves the device with the application missing so its upgrades need to be improved or how a roll back can happen if the new version fails going on.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

For cost and ease of restore its really cheap. Make sure to omit app data being backed up for things on the Mac /library folders as this tends to report Mac's are not backing up fully

Pros

  • Reliable
  • Enables Productivity
  • Unique Features
  • Inspires Innovation
