Solid LMS and UI but lacks some depth on back end

Likeliness to Recommend

7 /10

What differentiates Seismic Learning from other similar products?

The UI truly is pleasant and easy to use for learners. Although I have worked with a competitor that has more depth to reporting, analytics, and customization, the UI was not nearly as polished as Seismic Learning. This was, unfortuantely, a real issue for us with the competitor as we refused to upgrade our contract to include a customer-facing portal due primarily to the UI.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Again, the UI and usability. I have zero concerns about building a course and sending it to my colleagues from both a technical and practical standpoint. I know that it will be easy for them to follow the flow of the course, click where they need to, and submit smoothly.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Although I have several small gripes, my main concern has more to do with using an LMS in general from an enablement perspective. More and more enablement and documentation tools are boosting their course and assessment capabilities, thus making Learning Management Systems less valuable. Why create a course in an LMS when you can do so in the same knowlege center where the processes and content live aleady? It certainly doesn't make sense to house the content in the LMS as employees would have to go back and take the course again for something that could be a quick reference. It's important to have one single source of truth.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would say, first, consider whether or not you truly need an LMS to begin with or if another tool offers sufficient course-building and knowledge-check capabilities to save you some money. If you still want an LMS, though, don't discount some of the startups with smaller market share. In comparing companies, you will figure out which features are most important to you and will clearly see which LMS excels in these areas.
