Keeping Digital Ads Alive When the Bots Attack.

What differentiates Cloudflare DDoS Protection from other similar products?
Cloudflare’s layer 7 protection was honestly what sealed it for us. Our campaigns rely heavily on landing pages built on lightweight Node.js microservices, and before we integrated Cloudflare, one DDoS attempt could drag the whole cluster down. The rate limiting with adaptive thresholds really fits marketing workloads because traffic surges during promotions can look suspicious to traditional firewalls.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The real-time analytics dashboard is probably my favorite part. I can visualize attack vectors, IP origin, and layer-specific threat data while watching live campaign traffic. During one project for a client in Singapore, we used the logs API to feed attack telemetry into Grafana and built a quick custom view showing bot traffic vs human sessions it was oddly satisfying.
What do you dislike most about this product?
while the default alerting is reliable, I wish it had deeper Slack integration with context-rich alerts rather than basic IP hits.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you’re coming from a marketing or eCommerce background, I’d recommend configuring separate WAF and DDoS profiles for live campaigns versus steady-state traffic. Don’t rely on the default templates. Take time to train Cloudflare’s rate limiting using real campaign data first. I’d also suggest pairing it with log analysis tools like Datadog or Grafana for faster root cause isolation when something spikes unexpectedly.
Pros
- Reliable
- Performance Enhancing
- Enables Productivity

What differentiates Cloudflare DDoS Protection from other similar products?
using cloudflare just makes my small blog feel more professional. it loads fast from anywhere in the world. it has the https lock icon. it never goes down. these are things that only big company websites used to have. now i have them too, for free. this is the biggest difference for me.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
i love that cloudflare has leveled the playing field. it gives small creators like me access to the same world-class infrastructure as the big guys. this is very empowering. it makes me proud of my website. it has given my small project a professional and trustworthy image. i feel like a real business.
What do you dislike most about this product?
the support for free users is only on the community forum. you can't talk to a real person quickly.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
if you want to make your website feel more serious and professional, this is the first step. it is easy, free, and it works.
