Compared to other products we have used, Rapid7 InsightVM stands out for its speed and accuracy in identifying vulnerabilities, its ability to integrate with other security products and its robustness in terms of risk analysis. For these reasons, we selected InsightVM as our primary vulnerability management solution.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I like Rapid7 InsightVM primarily for addressing business issues related to vulnerability management and network security. Allowing us to proactively identify vulnerabilities in our IT infrastructure and prioritize actions to mitigate risks.

What differentiates Rapid7 InsightVM from other similar products?

‎The insight is one of the most distinct elements of the platform because of how it transforms my visibility. It acts as a lightweight piece of software that provides me with continuous monitoring of endpoints.‎

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The focus on tactical speed is a good one because it’s exactly where the tool shines for me. I can instantly see every device currently running an outdated version of a specific service. It feels like a tool designed to actually close gaps and solve problems rather than just burying me in reports.

What do you dislike most about this product?

‎The asset counting system is really annoying. A busy network where new virtual devices are constantly popping up and disappearing, the tool might end up running out of space because of ghost devices that are not active anymore.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

‎Set up an automatic rule to remove assets that haven't been checked. This keeps the data accurate and prevents accidentally using up all license seats on old or deleted virtual machines.

‎A primary factor that sets it apart is the use of active risk scoring. Insight VM incorporates threat data and exploitability, allowing us to prioritize the small percentage of vulnerabilities that pose an immediate verified threat to the specific environment. It also shares data with detection and response tools, providing a single pane of glass for the entire security lifecycle.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

‎The Active Risk Scoring model stands out as the most valuable component of Rapid7 InsightVM. This feature provides much clarity. Rather than relying on static severity scores, it enriches data with threat intelligence, exploitability, and attacker behavior. The Live Dashboards are another remarkable element providing dynamic visibility that updates as scans complete. They allow for instant querying of the environment.

What do you dislike most about this product?

‎There is a known frustration with how the on-premises console talks to the Insight Cloud. Assets that have been deleted can still show up as ghost entries, which messes up the inventory.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

‎I find that Rapid7 InsightVM is a top-tier choice for any modern security team, and I highly recommend it for its ability to turn a mountain of data into a clear plan of action.
