ServiceNow Software Asset Management stands out because it brings all software-license tracking, entitlement data, compliance checks and lifecycle workflows into a single, unified platform, eliminating siloed spreadsheets and helping companies see exactly what they own, where it’s used, and whether it’s compliant.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The automated license reconciliation is my favorite part it removes so much manual effort and instantly shows where you can save costs or fix compliance issues without digging through spreadsheets.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The biggest downside is the complexity of setup and configuration, it has a steep learning curve, and smaller teams may find it overwhelming without dedicated expertise to manage and customize it properly.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Go into it with a clear asset management strategy and allocate time for proper implementation and training. It’s a powerful tool, but you’ll get the most value if you invest in setup, clean data, and have someone dedicated to managing and optimizing it long-term.

It has well defined tables, and is really easy to import data from various sources. All of this is possible due to their well structured training modules.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I like how convenient it is to create a record and its ability to automate license compliance and optimize software usage. It's integration with CMDB and CSDM makes it more amazing to use.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The most frustrating aspect is the complexity of initial setup and data normalization — getting accurate, normalized data from various sources takes a lot of time and effort, especially when discovery isn't clean.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you are looking for a product to manage software licenses within your company, then this is the goto product and it is a all in one solution.
